What is GAINA Agricultural?

GAINA Agricultural is a ceramic microsphere coating designed to improve thermal comfort and surface durability across farms and agri-processing sites. By reflecting and dissipating radiant heat, it helps keep structures cooler in summer and drier in humid conditions—supporting animal welfare, crop quality, and equipment longevity.

Good to know

  • Finish: Low-sheen / matte.
  • Tools: Airless (e.g., 517–521 tip @ ~1800–2200 psi), 12–20 mm nap rollers, quality brushes.
  • Maintenance: Annual soft-wash; repair mechanical damage promptly to maintain a continuous film.
  • Thermal moderation: Reduces heat gain for more stable internal temperatures in sheds, tunnels, and packhouses.
  • Condensation control: Warmer surface temperatures help limit damp, mould, and odour build-up.
  • Durable, weather-tough film: Resists UV, rain, and thermal cycling; suitable for coastal and high-UV zones.
  • Cleaner surfaces: Low-sheen finish that sheds dust and grime; easier washdowns.
  • Low odour / low VOC: Water-based and applicator-friendly.

Typical Applications

  • Livestock & storage buildings: Dairies, poultry houses, piggeries, barns, general agri sheds.
  • Horticulture: Tunnel/greenhouse coverings (non-glass cladding), shade structures, propagation houses.
  • Post-harvest & processing: Packhouses, produce rooms, cold-room exteriors, loading bays.
  • Infrastructure: Silos, farm containers, water tanks, fibre-cement and cladded façades.

How to Apply

  1. Check conditions: Apply at 10–35 °C; RH < 85%; substrate < 40 °C; ensure 6 h dry weather post-application.
  2. Surface prep: Wash down; remove dust/chalk; treat algae/mould; allow to dry. Spot-prime bare steel with anti-corrosive primer; prime galvanised/aluminium where required; stabilise porous/friable plaster/concrete with masonry/bonding primer.
  3. Mix: Stir gently but thoroughly (avoid entraining air). Box multiple tins for uniformity.
  4. Apply: Airless/roller/brush. Detail laps, fasteners, and penetrations first. Apply two uniform coats; second coat cross-directionally after recoat time. For movement joints or wider cracks, embed reinforcing membrane where specified.
  5. Coverage (guide): ~4–6 m²/L/coat to achieve performance film build. Two coats typical (three in extreme exposure).
  6. Dry & recoat: Touch-dry 45–90 min @ 23 °C; recoat 3–6 h; full cure 7–10 days.
  7. Clean-up: Water; dispose responsibly.
